Feng Chia University's Materials Science Students Complete Immersive Study Program at Kyushu University, Focusing on Plasma Technology and Semiconductor Applications

Led by Professor Yi-Hsin Chien, Associate Professor Jun-Wei Huang, and Assistant Professor Ping-Yen Hsieh, 19 students from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Feng Chia University traveled to Kyushu University — one of Japan's leading national research universities — from August 17 to 25, 2026, for a nine-day, 68-hour overseas immersion program. The program combined classroom lectures, hands-on laboratory work, and reflection sessions, conducted entirely in English.

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) has recently announced the recipients of the 115th Academic Year Ta-You Wu Memorial Award. Associate Professor Chun-Wei Huang of Feng Chia University's Department of Materials Science and Engineering distinguished himself among a highly competitive field of outstanding young scholars, recognized for his exceptional contributions to "liquid metal synthesis and applications" and "in situ transmission electron microscopy analysis." Notably, among the 45 award recipients this year, Associate Professor Huang is the sole representative nationwide to receive the honor in the field of materials engineering.

Dean Chi-Chang Wang of the College of Engineering and Science, Feng Chia University (FCU), led 10 faculty members and 21 students from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering and Science, and Department of Photonics to Japan from June 21–25 to participate in the three-day Kyushu University × Feng Chia University Bilateral International Interdisciplinary Workshop at Kyushu University’s Graduate School of Engineering.
FCU Programming and Creative Challenge Highlights Interdisciplinary Innovation and AI-Powered Creativity

The 2025–26 Programming and Creative Challenge, organized by the Information Technology Learning Center of Feng Chia University’s iSchool, was held on May 30. Students from 12 departments—including Information Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering, Statistics, Chinese Literature, Chemical Engineering, Cooperative Economics and Social Entrepreneurship, and Communications Engineering—formed interdisciplinary teams to participate. An award ceremony was held on June 12, with FCU President and iSchool Dean Wei Wang presenting awards to the winners.

The Chinese Language Center of Feng Chia University, in collaboration with the Taipei Feng Chia University Alumni Cultural Foundation and co-organized by the Library, hosted the First “Light Knowledge, Little Diamond” AI-Assisted Popular Knowledge Video Storytelling Competition. An award ceremony and exhibition of winning works were held at the Library on June 25. Guests included Yao-Jen Hsiao, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Shu-Yuan Chou, Chairperson of the Taipei Feng Chia University Alumni Cultural Foundation; alumni Yu-Hsien Lu and Chun-Tang Chou, who joined to celebrate students’ interdisciplinary achievements combining AI tools, language skills, and professional knowledge.
