Feng Chia University Tops Private Universities in MOE Funding, Receiving Nearly NT$160 Million

Following its achievement of ranking first nationwide in admission allocation numbers and setting a new record for enrollment rate in the 114th academic year, Feng Chia University has once again delivered outstanding results. In the Ministry of Education's announcement of the 114th "Higher Education Sprout Project Funding," Feng Chia University was approved for a grant of NT$159.86 million, an increase of NT$10.96 million compared to last year. This solidifies its position as the top comprehensive private university in Taiwan, showcasing its strong educational capabilities and robust appeal in student recruitment.

Since the launch of the Higher Education Sprout Project in 2018, Feng Chia University has continuously deepened teaching innovation and talent cultivation. It has promoted project-oriented teaching models centered on CDIO and Design Thinking, integrating the College of Creativity and Innovation and seven creative learning spaces to enhance students' hands-on skills and interdisciplinary literacy. The university aims to cultivate new-generation talents equipped with AI+ (big data, artificial intelligence, IoT, and cloud computing) professional skills. In response to digital transformation and the AI wave, Feng Chia has trained 80 faculty members in AI teaching courses to strengthen digital teaching capabilities. It has also established the Fan Xuan Smart City 5G Laboratory, creating Taiwan's only 5G private network campus to advance applications such as eMBB, mMTC, and URLLC, providing diverse practical and innovative learning environments for students.

Feng Chia University focuses on key areas such as smart manufacturing, smart construction, smart business, and smart cities, extending its development to cutting-edge technologies like aerospace, cybersecurity, and sustainable development. In the 2022 academic year, it launched the Master's Program in Space System Engineering and established rocket and CubeSat laboratories. In 2023 and 2024, it successfully launched multiple research rockets. Additionally, the College of Engineering and Science and the College of Information and Electrical Engineering actively collaborate with leading companies such as TSMC, Macronix, and Micron Technology, incorporating practical courses to enhance students' hands-on skills and job readiness.

Feng Chia University's second research rocket was successfully launched on November 11, 2024, at 6:01 AM at the National Science Council's "Short-Term Research Sounding Rocket Launch Site" in Xuhai, Pingtung.

In terms of internationalization, Feng Chia University is the first university approved by the Ministry of Education to offer international cooperative undergraduate programs. It actively connects with top global universities and has partnered with six international institutions to launch nine dual bachelor's degree programs. These include collaborations with globally ranked top 50 universities such as the University of Queensland, Monash University, and the University of New South Wales, promoting the "2+2 Dual Degree Program." To date, nearly 300 students have earned dual bachelor's degrees from Feng Chia and its overseas partner universities, successfully stepping onto the international stage and demonstrating global competitiveness.

The UQ Global Connect-Taiwan, established in collaboration between the University of Queensland and Feng Chia University, is UQ's first base in Taiwan.

Beyond degree collaborations, Feng Chia University has partnered with the world's largest applied research organization, the Fraunhofer Society, to establish the FIP-SPE@FCU International Innovation Platform on campus. This is Taiwan's first Fraunhofer international innovation application research organization, integrating international research capabilities and industry needs to expand the global impact of academic and technological advancements.

In industry-academia collaboration, according to the Ministry of Education's university statistics, Feng Chia University's industry-academia project funding exceeded NT$600 million in 2023, ranking eighth nationwide and maintaining its position as the top private university for eight consecutive years. In 2024, it was recognized by the Chinese Institute of Engineers as an "Outstanding Industry-Academia Collaboration Unit," standing alongside top national universities such as National Taiwan University, National Sun Yat-sen University, and National Chung Hsing University, and becoming the only comprehensive private university to receive this honor. This highlights its strong research capabilities and industry connection strength.

Feng Chia University signed an industry-academia alliance memorandum of cooperation with Gallant Precision Machining Co., Ltd., jointly creating the Advanced Energy and Thermal Management Laboratory to strengthen energy-saving research chains.

Feng Chia University stated that it will continue to advance its goal of "cultivating innovative talents capable of participating in societal and industrial upgrades, transformation, and sustainable development." It will deepen teaching innovation, strengthen research capabilities, and link international resources with local needs, leveraging its critical influence in education, industry, and society to nurture more new-generation talents with practical skills, interdisciplinary capabilities, and global perspectives.
